Rouquemoute is a French publisher (based in Nantes) which explores the field of humour through multiple graphic forms (comics, graphic novels, collection of drawings, children’s books…). Apolitical, Rouquemoute’s editorial strand plays around irony, dark humour, absurd and self-mockery.
Each project is released in 2 steps : a crowdfunding campaign, then the official launch in bookstores.
The name « Rouquemoute » is the result of a brainstorming session between the publisher and the authors to find the most absurd name. Independent, Rouquemoute makes its own recipe and grows its identity through book projects, collaborations and festivals.

Can books change the world? Reading, thinking and acting are the three verbs that animate Écosociété by working around two closely related poles: cultivating knowledge and opening up possibilities.
Founded in 1992 by a group of activists convinced that it was high time to defend a society in which social ecology would be a cardinal value, this independent publishing house has made the bet of the circulation of ideas. Écosociété is a collective work, crossed by diverse energies, storms and flights of fancy, tireless strong heads.
With the conviction that the general public is thirsty for books of ideas, and not only for entertainment, Écosociété publishes books that are at once demanding, daring and accessible. Écosociété's mandate is to inform the public about major ecological issues and their intrinsic links with economic, social and political issues. Anchored in social reality and the major issues that run through it, Écosociété fuels reflection and debate in the public arena on these issues by reaching out to both the general public and more specialized circles.

2024 Publishing was created in 2010. If we try to summarize what is still driving us, it would be : create a catalogue of illustrated books, graphic novels and comics, drive coherent author's works, and care about the making of our books. We first published young and talented authors, like Sophie Guerrive, Simon Roussin, Matthias Picard... but we also like, from time to time, to focus on some patrimonial artworks. We also create regularly stunning exhibitions extending the universe of our books. 2019 was for us the beginning of a new adventure, with the creation of a children's books collection : 4048 ! And in 2024 ? Earth will surely explode since then and our books - luminous meteors - will be projected into the Milky Way... glorious destiny !

Over thirty years ago, the fledgling comic book company Drawn & Quarterly was founded in a Mile End apartment. The company quickly expanded into publishing its first comic book series, the iconic Dirty Plotte by Montealer Julie Doucet as well as Yummy Fur by Chester Brown and Palookaville by Seth, both of Toronto. The three cemented D+Q’s comic book acumen and paved the way for the company to become one of the most influential visual arts companies in the world. The company's dedication to high production values, editorial integrity, and artistic autonomy has led to it being described by Time Magazine as “the most elegant comics publisher in North America.”
In 2008, D+Q sensed a need in Montreal for a contemporary neighbourhood bookstore specializing in but not limited to English books as well as showcasing an obvious passion for graphic novels. Renovating a former dress shop on Bernard Street in the Mile End, the company opened its first store Librairie D+Q and revitalized the independent book retail landscape not just in Montreal, but in Canada. In 2017, La Petite Librairie D+Q opened, which is Montreal's only standalone kids store. Librairie D+Q is proud to be known not just as the flagship shop for the publisher but as the city’s literary hub for all genres and ages–cartoonists, writers, essayists, poets, illustrators, and the readers who love them, all call the store their own.

Storytelling, dynamic movement and humour are very important to my work. The stylized realism and dynamism found in Japanese and Korean made animations has had a great influence on my style. I want to create immersive worlds and compelling characters through illustrations and comics.

Tania Mignacca is a Montreal-based illustrator and comic artist. Inspired by Japanese “yurukyara,” she created Ponto, a bilingual webcomic about a young road barrel who decides to follow his dream of working in Montreal, a big city where potholes and roadworks are a daily struggle. With his legendary optimism, Ponto will do his best to ensure the safety of Montrealers, but he will soon discover that life in Montreal won’t be an easy one and that many adventures await in his quest to improve the city. Overtime, Ponto has become an unofficial mascot for the city of Montreal and the cute road barrel also has fans from all over the world. Everyday, you can follow his daily city life on his social media accounts through comics, illustrations, and photos. With Ponto, Tania hopes to help people see their city with new eyes and learn to appreciate their environment. She also had the opportunity to work on projects featuring her character collaborating with clients such as the City of Montreal, KPH Turcot, BIXI, and more recently the REM, a new light rail project.

'Kill the painter' is a curious revisited western. The colors want to pay homage to Morris' Lucky Luke, but some characters also want to give a nod to other works and authors. A mixture of historical facts and invented facts, a non-linear quest in 70 pages, perhaps a non-story in the end... In any case, according to Vincent Van Gogh, 'Killing the painter is not easy'.
Uniting comics with science does not seem natural, yet this marriage can lead to results with large added value. How to share the research done at the Université de Sherbrooke, make it accessible, understandable and interesting for everyone? These are the objectives behind 'Draw Your Science' which will be presented and distributed free of charge within the limit of available copies.

Val-Bleu is a comic book artist from Montreal, who likes to tackle social themes. She used to travel a lot, and her comics are often influenced by the time she spent in Asia. Feminist, she expresses her reality and the one of others through a simple and naive design, as well as a good touch of humor. She thus tends to play down complex situations in order to open a discussion with people who would prefer to avoid these subjects.
