May, Comics month
“April showers bring May flowers “said the famous adage. Well we like our flowers in paper, and that’s why we’re declaring May to be the month of Comics! What we used to call the OFF! Festival officially becomes the Comics month, thanks to the Bibliothèques de Montréal, who’s behind the initiative. So take out your agenda and your best pen because we prepared tons of great activities for you, in the language of Shakespeare and Jean Leloup!
Here’s a short preview of what’s waiting for you:
We’re slightly ahead the beginning of the month with a cabaret-style event, the Salon BD MTL Salon, held at Theatre Ste-Catherine. On the menu: Comic Jam, Drink & Draw and round table in the company of indie comics and emerging community of Montreal.
You don’t want to miss the launch of the anthology retracing the 20 years of Conundrum Press, The Twenty year Conundrum, at Monastriraki!
Wine and cheese evening in the company of the authors of Salomé et les hommes en noir, a comic book about the Hasidic Jewish community, held the Henri-Bourassa Library.
CRAS – Research Symposium in Sequential Arts is a series of conferences under the theme of the margin in comics. At the Sporting Club.
Attend Hooray for Evolution!, a conference in english with the German cartoonist Jens Harder, author of books Alpha and Beta, a fascinating series on the history of the universe. At the Goethe Institute.
From May 4 to 29
The FBDM takes over the Espace Lafontaine, located in the park of the same name. Discover the world of Jean-Paul Eid and Chester Brown, drawings from Turbo Kid and more!
