Aurélie Wilmet is a young Belgian comic book artist based in Denmark. After studying art at ESA Saint-Luc and the Ecole de Recherche Graphique, she published her first graphic novel, Rorbuer, with Super Loto Editions in 2020 (winner of the 2020 Wallonia-Brussels Federation Prize for Best Debut Graphic Novel). Following this first Scandinavian tale, Aurélie Wilmet takes us to the far north of Canada, into Inuk territory, with Épinette Noire. Still armed with her felt-tip pens and coloured pencils, she sets out here to explore the landscapes of Nunavik and the customs of its inhabitants. As part of this project, she benefited from a two-month creative residency in Quebec City (Quebec BD FWB partnership). A bestseller for Super Loto Éditions (almost 2,000 copies sold since January 2024 and several award nominations), Épinette Noire is being reissued in paperback in May 2026. And following a foray into the Casterman catalogue with her project on Diane Arbus (2025), Aurélie Wilmet is working on a new project due to be published by Super Loto Éditions in spring 2027.
