E.M. Carroll (they/them) was born in June 1983 in London, Ontario. They began creating comics in 2010, and their horror comic His Face All Red went viral around Halloween 2010. Since then, E.M. has published numerous books, created comics for anthologies, and produced illustrations for other works. E.M. has won several awards, including an Ignatz and two Eisners. They are married to Kate Craig, a fellow Canadian artist. Their work, formerly published under the name Emily, is now credited under the initials E.M. Carroll.
