About Julien Paré-Sorel

Julien Paré-Sorel has always enjoyed telling stories with his drawings. At a very young age, he created his first characters, almost always immersing them in fantasy and science-fiction worlds. After studying fine arts at CEGEP and comics at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, he began his career with several projects, including Léthéonie, the Étienne et Charlot series, which appeared in Les Débrouillards magazine, and La ligne rouge. Between comic book festivals and conferences around the world and in Quebec, Julien painstakingly imagined the complex universe of Aventurosaurus, a project that brings together two of his lifelong passions: medieval fantasy worlds and dinosaurs. The first volume of the series, Le réveil de Rex, won him several awards, including the Yvette-Lapointe prize at the Bédéis Causa for best French-language children's comic strip, and the Dragon prize at the Joe Shuster Awards. Julien works in his Montreal studio with his faithful assistant, Abu the monkey dog. When he's not creating comics, he enjoys cycling, playing video games, practicing aikido and watching kaiju films.
