About Julien Paré-Sorel
Julien Paré-Sorel has always loved telling stories through his drawings. From a very young age, he created his first characters, almost always setting them in fantasy and science-fiction worlds. After studying fine art at CEGEP and comic art at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, he began his career with several projects, including Léthéonie, the Étienne et Charlot series, which appeared in Les Débrouillards magazine, and La ligne rouge. Between comic book festivals and conferences across the globe and throughout Quebec, Julien meticulously crafted the complex world of Aventurosaure, a project that brings together two of his lifelong passions: medieval fantasy worlds and dinosaurs. The first volume of the series, Le réveil de Rex, has earned him several accolades, including the Yvette-Lapointe Award at the Bédéis Causa for best French-language children’s comic, and the Dragon Award at the Joe Shuster Awards. Julien works in his studio in Montreal with his faithful assistant, Abu the dog-monkey. When he isn’t creating comics, he enjoys cycling, playing video games, practising aikido and watching kaiju films.
