Ready for 2021!

10 years, 10 Months of Activities

No matter what else happens in 2021, one thing is for sure: The Festival is gonna be celebrating its 10th anniversary!

10 years already, who would have believed it? Well, we did, and so did all of you, obviously! So we’re inviting you to join us over the course of the coming months for a series of events designed for both the general public as well as comic arts pros. All this amazing programing will culminate in the fall with an international conference dedicated to the comic arts, our anniversary gift to you.

To start the festivities, we are dedicating the month of January to the people without whom the Festival simply wouldn’t exist in the first place: The creators!

The Montreal Comic Arts Festival

Naturally, we’ll be keeping our calendars clear for the 10th annual Montreal Comic Arts Festival, which will be taking place on the 28, 29, and 30 of May, 2021! With the knowledge that our classic pavilions probably won’t be rising up in the park this year, we are hard at work to adapt to the circumstances and create environments where you can safely meet your favorite creators.

Other elements of this year’s programming will be revealed throughout the year, since we love a fun surprise once in a while. Don’t worry, your patience will be well rewarded.

Shaking the Foundations

This year MCAF is working with McGill University’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montreal (CIRM) to invite you at the conference Shaking the Foundations, scheduled for October 28 to30, 2021. In addition to being a major part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Festival, this conference will bring together researchers, scholars, and comic book creators to share their findings, show off their work, and engage in fascinating discussions regarding the comic arts.

MCAF Book Club // Investigation

On February 3rd, at 7:00pm, you are invited to join us at an undisclosed, super-secret location… Well, not really, you can easily find the clues to our virtual meeting spot over on our Facebook group!

Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to be part of the next meeting of the MCAF Book Club. This month’s top secret theme: Investigation.

Here are the top-secret documents you’ll want to consult for your mission:

  • L’affaire Delorme, Michel Viau and Grégoire Mabit (Glénat)
  • Tard dans la nuit, Jean-Blaise Djian and VoRo (Vents d’Ouest)
  • La colère de Fantômas, Julie Rocheleau and Olivier Bocquet (Dargaud)

The Festival is counting on you, special agent!

Don’t have the time to get up to speed on all the documents? Not a problem, you can count on your fellow agents to help you out! As always, the Book Club is here to help its members share, enjoy, and discuss comic books. Don’t be shy, come and join us!

This message will NOT self-destruct (we don’t have the budget for such pyrotechnics).

As always, free and open to all. Discussion will be in French.
