Where does the Festival take place?
The Festival takes place outdoors, in the open air, on Saint-Denis Street between Gilford and Roy, in the heart of the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood.
What are the dates and activity hours?
Friday, May 15 – 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 16 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 17 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Is admission free?
Yes, access to the Festival’s outdoor site is completely free. Some special activities, exhibitions, or workshops may be very popular, so it’s best to plan ahead.
Is this a family-friendly event?
Absolutely! The Festival offers many activities for all members of the family and for all ages.
What should I bring?
We recommend having the following on hand:
– Sunscreen
– A reusable water bottle
– A cap or hat for sun protection
– A reusable bag to carry your comic finds (waterproof depending on the weather)
– An umbrella in case of rain (check the forecast)
What happens in case of rain?
The Festival takes place rain or shine. Some areas of the site are covered, but we recommend bringing a raincoat or umbrella in case of showers. And of course, nearby businesses are always there if you need shelter.
Will food be available on site?
Yes! All restaurants and cafés along Saint-Denis Street will be open and offering refreshments and food from their regular menus. There’s something for everyone!
Are animals allowed?
Animals on a leash are welcome throughout the Festival’s outdoor site. Municipal regulations must be respected.
Will there be signing sessions?
Definitely! Signing sessions are one of the Festival’s highlights. Check the schedule here to see which artists and authors will be present and at what times.
Will it be possible to buy comic books?
Yes! Several publishers and artists will have books available for purchase. While most vendors generally accept credit and/or debit card payments, it’s a good idea to bring some cash to avoid disappointment.
How do I get to the Festival?
All directions and transportation information can be found on this page of our website. Please note that the REV detour, as requested by the borough, will run exclusively along Henri-Julien Street in both directions for the entire duration of the street closure, from Wednesday, May 21 to Monday, May 26, 2025.
How can I recover a lost item from the Festival site?
If your item has been found and turned in, it will be located at the tents identified as Montreal Comic Arts Festival locations — specifically the two MCAF shops and the donation area. Ask one of the volunteers and they will direct you.
How can I become a volunteer?
It’s very simple! Just read the MCAF volunteer description available on this page and fill out the form.
