About Larry Tremblay

Larry Tremblay has published some forty books as a playwright, poet, novelist and essayist. He is also a specialist in Kathakali. His work has been translated into some thirty languages. In 2014-15-16, his novel L'orangeraie won some fifteen awards, including the Prix des Libraires du Québec, the Prix des collégiens and the Prix des Lycéens Folio, and was published in some twenty countries. In 2017, his graphic novel Même pas vrai, illustrated by Guillaume Perreault, won the prestigious TD Canadian Children's Literature Award. In 2019, he publishes a poetic narrative, L'œil soldat. In 2020, he publishes the graphic novel based on his play Le Garçon au visage disparu, illustrated by Pierre Lecrenier. In fall 2021, the opera L'orangeraie, music by Zad Moultaka, libretto by Larry Tremblay, premieres at Monument-National, a co-production of Chants Libres and NEM, directed by Pauline Vaillancourt. He also publishes his latest novel: Tableau final de l'amour, inspired by the life and work of painter Francis Bacon. In 2023, his play Abraham Lincoln va au théâtre was directed by Catherine Vidal, produced by Théâtre du Nouveau Monde. He was recently named Compagnon des arts et des lettres du Québec.
