While sprawling long-form serials and hefty graphic novels often dominate the conversation, short stories remain an essential—and increasingly vital—part of the comics landscape. They offer a space for formal experimentation, creative risk-taking, and some of the medium’s most immediate, powerful storytelling. From standalone pieces to cohesive collections and wide-ranging anthologies, short comics play a crucial role for emerging and established creators alike—and help shape the future of the form. Join Michael DeForge (All the Cameras in My Room), Joe Ollmann (The Woodchipper), and Shea Proulx (Alberta Comics: Love) for a conversation on what draws them to short-form work, what makes a great short comic, and why the best things sometimes come in small packages.
