Author’s Graphic Novel

Youth, Teen

Born in Baie-Comeau, Patrick Blanchette now lives in Ancienne-Lorette. At a very young age, he learned to create comics by imitating his older brother. When his older brother decided to turn to weightlifting, Patrick preferred to continue strengthening his pencil skills. He discovered Japanese animation on television, and then was introduced to American cartoons while studying at CEGEP: these two influences would definitively forge his style. It was also at this time that the story of Aube was born. Patrick then continued his training in animation and storyboarding at Laval University. He was quickly noticed and hired by many animation studios, which did not prevent him from continuing to refine the story of his young heroine, whom he already imagined on the small screen. Impatient to tell Aube's story, he has the idea to transpose her story into a comic book. Excited, he sharpens his pencil, rolls up his sleeves and dives headfirst into the adventure on paper. When he's not drawing (which he does almost all the time), Patrick likes to cook, follow the news, play video games, listen to animated series with his wife and go for long walks
