Étienne Poisson was born and raised in Longueuil in the early 90s, before moving to Sherbrooke to work in the Quebec microbrewery industry. From an early age, his love of visual language and plastic arts led him to take an interest in comics and figurative painting. He spent several months in the art program at Cégep du Vieux Montréal before changing direction. After a five-year hiatus, during which he obtained a university diploma in environmental studies, he returned to drawing and painting. Inspired by three rich years of music on Sherbrooke's underground punk scene with his band Tinpeulâ, he finally produced his first comic strip, Shotgun Lager, in collaboration with Steven Slab, the band's singer and storytelling artist. In 2021, he collaborated with Olivier Robin – researcher and professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, scriptwriter and passionate comics fan – on the illustration and self-publishing of Tuer le Peintre. The following year, he took part in Front Froid's scholarship and mentoring project to develop a solo comic strip with the support of local artists. Today, Étienne lives in Montreal and works on a number of freelance illustration projects.
