About Philippe Girard

Philippe Girard is a screenwriter, writer and comic strip artist born in Quebec City in 1971. During his studies, he drew for various student newspapers before launching the fanzine Tabasko! with Djief and Leif Tande. After graduating in Graphic Communications from Université Laval in 1993, he completed an internship in Brussels in 1997, followed by a writing residency in Bordeaux in 2010, Krakow in 2019 and Liège in 2022. His books explore themes of identity and death, including Tuer Vélasquez (Glénat Québec), Leonard Cohen Sur un fil (Casterman), and Supercanon! Le marchand d'armes qui visait les étoiles (Casterman). Most recently, his album Danger public (with Leif Tande) was adapted for film by Alexis Chartrand. His work has won numerous awards in Canada, Quebec, Japan and Europe. Le prince des oiseaux de haut vol is his second book published by La Pastèque.
