About El Diablo

El Diablo

Artist

France

Adventure/Detective, Humour

Adult

Having cut his teeth at the magazine Psikopat in the early 1990s, El diablo is a former suburban youth with a wide-ranging talent, equally at home in comics, film and television series. Preferring substance over style, he does not rule out any form of artistic expression. His credits include Lascars and Les Kassos, which he co-wrote. Coming from a hip-hop background, he has always drawn inspiration, directly or indirectly, from his urban experiences in his various artistic collaborations, notably in the comic book series Monkey Bizness (with Pozla), Un homme de gout (with Cha), and Rua Viva (with Julien Loïs). Although he is himself a painter and illustrator, he prefers to lend his inspiration to others, and over the years has specialised in scriptwriting. The common thread running through his work remains a worldview tinged with humanism and collapsology, conveyed through stories that he aims above all to be entertaining, yet also to prompt reflection on the realities of our times. El diablo has lived in Montreal since 2015, where he awaits the great collapse whilst drinking maple syrup IPA.
