About Jean-Paul Eid
From 1985 to 1995, Jean-Paul Eid joined the team at the humour magazine Croc, where he published the adventures of Jérôme Bigras. With pages designed to be read through transparency, interactive storylines, and mirror pages, Eid enjoyed deconstructing the very language of the comic book. At the same time, he began collaborating with playwright Claude Paiement, a partnership that gave rise several graphic novels including La femme aux cartes postales (Grand Prix de la Ville de Québec, Prix ACBD Québec 2016), the science-fiction tale Memoria and, most recently, Crue. In 2021, Le petit astronaute comes out; he wrote the script and created the illustrations. This moving story, which recounts the arrival on Earth of Tom, a young boy born with a severe disability, has now been translated into several languages and adapted for Radio-Canada. A film adaptation is currently in the works.
