Julien Poitras was born in Baie-Sainte-Catherine, in the Charlevoix region. As a first-generation academic, he completed two degrees: one in visual arts and one in medicine. Throughout his artistic career, he has focused primarily on drawing and painting. In medicine, he specialises in emergency medicine. He has also developed skills in publishing as editor-in-chief of medical journals. Over the years, this expertise led him into comic book publishing. Today, Julien Poitras is a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University, an emergency doctor at the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis University Affiliated Hospital, a comic book artist and a publisher for Moelle graphik, based in Quebec City.
