About Ana Luiza Marigo

Ana Luiza Marigo is an artistic chameleon of Brazilian origin, involved in several disciplines throughout her life. Trained as an urban architect, she specialized in the valourization of Brazilian intangible heritage, with a particular interest in urban dynamics. Today, she devotes her time to the visual arts, and is increasingly turning to comics. Her first publication, Apocolocyntosis (from the Greek apokolokyntosis, “transformation into a gourd”), offers a contemporary rereading of a Seneca satire, transposed to the Brazilian context. With her coauthor, she explores issues such as Brazil's environmental crisis and the ethnocide of indigenous peoples. Marigo is currently pursuing her visual research through the production of fanzines and the creation of her next comic strip: Oiseaux Migrateurs.
