About False Knees
Rural Ontario-born, Montréal-based Joshua Barkman is the Eisner-winning artist behind the webcomic False Knees. A traditional artist, Joshua uses watercolours and India ink to paint detailed illustrations of native Canadian wildlife and pairs them with witty dialogue, absurd or existential humour, and a good dose of comedic timing. He’s also the author of five short graphic novels: Hop!, Spores (Bédélys Independent 2024), Woven, Life After Life (Eisner for Best Webcomic 2025), and A Noble Quest.
