About Christian Quesnel
An author of documentary and fantasy comic books, Christian Quesnel was the artist-in-residence who inaugurated the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec’s studio in London in 2009, thereby becoming the first comic book artist to hold a residency in the organisation’s history. In 2018, he undertook another residency at the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Bavaria. A three-time winner of the CALQ Prize for Work of the Year in the Outaouais region, he has published Vous avez détruit la beauté du monde (Grand Prix de la Ville de Québec – Bédéis Causa 2021), Mégantic, un train dans la nuit (Éco-Fauve Raja Prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival 2022, Grand Prix de la Ville de Québec – Bédéis Causa 2022), La cité oblique (Aurora/Boréal BD Prize 2023), Dédé, Transmission and, most recently, Blood on the Snow, the Tragedy of Reesor Siding. He has also published Dracula with Callidor (France), L’Ippocampo (Italy) and Folioscopio (Spain), which won the Cultissime Prize at the festival of the same name in Angers, France, in 2025.
