François Paquet is an emergency medicine specialist who has worked for over thirty years at the Chaudière-Appalaches Integrated Health and Social Services Center, at the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis University Hospital. It was there that he met Yves and they hatched their first strips, a relief from the hectic life of the emergency room and a means of escape from the heavy demands of their professions. François co-writes STAT with Yves, as well as generating the texts and editing the strips and panels. A critic in STAT with regard to the health network, he is nonetheless a relentless player in trying to improve the health of Quebecers, being involved in several initiatives aimed at increasing the functionality of the health network, the emergency measures system and the prehospital system, among other things through computerization. He also teaches at the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University as an associate clinical professor.
