Born in Montreal, Jean-Pierre Sauvé followed a classical curriculum at Collège Saint-Laurent, where he also attended the Fra Angelico art studio, and later studied anthropology at the University of Montreal. A jack-of-all-trades, he worked in various fields, including as a film processor at Presses solidaires, for about ten years. He was introduced to printmaking at the Atelier Circulaire, where he also served as coordinator for five years, and has devoted himself to this art form since the 1990s. Around the same time, he and Marie Letellier founded a kiosk in Port-au-Persil where they display their works during the summer months.
