SUMMARY:Exposition BD de quartier

SUMMARY:AN Cathon & Pascal Girard Double Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:Join the Pow Pow Press crew at Librairie Drawn & Quarterly for the launch of our newest books: « Fruit Salad » by Cathon and « Pastimes » by Pascal Girard! Enjoy a tasty beverage with two of Montreal’s best cartoonists and get your books signed at this relaxed and fun 5 à 7 style event. Books will be available in English and French. This event is free to attend and open to all. No reservation is required./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////« Pow Pow’s new collection of cartoonists’ notebooks is a marvel of ideas\, and [the] tone is perfect. »—Anthony Lacroix\, Les Libraires/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Experience cartoonist Cathon’s hectic trials and tribulations through the short comics in FRUIT SALAD. Whether we find her slurping down a piña collada at her fave tiki bar\, meeting oddball fans at a comic book festival\, road-tripping with her pals\, or simply strolling the streets of Montreal\, Cathon always manages to find the sublime in everyday life. Mix in some wild flights of fantasy\, a splash of adorable childhood memories\, and the occasional good cry\, and you’ve got the recipe for a laugh-out-loud book that will make you feel like you’re hanging out with your newest\, funniest friend!/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////PASTIMES follows the misadventures of Pascal Girard\, social worker in a hospital by day\, internationally-acclaimed cartoonist by night\, who seems to be a magnet for awkward situations. Why can’t he manage to walk his dog\, hit the gym\, or even push a shopping cart down the grocery aisle without having yet another weird encounter? Or\, just maybe\, is he the one who provokes them? These short\, snappy comic strips deliver snippets inspired by daily life\, with a bittersweet humour that’s sometimes mocking\, sometimes tender\, but always deeply observant. Pastimes is a funny and surprisingly moving portrait of passing time in the modern world\, one comic at a time./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Cathon has been making waves both as a cartoonist and an illustrator\, creating comics for children and grown-ups alike. Her graphic novels include The Pineapples of Wrath\, The Adventures of Sgoobidoo\, and Vampire Cousins\, created with Alexandre Fontaine-Rousseau\, and the children’s book series Poppy and Sam. She is also the co-creator (with Iris) of The Great List of Everything which was adapted into an animated series by the National Film Board. She is currently based in Montreal./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Pascal Girard was born in Jonquière\, QC\, in 1981. He is a part-time cartoonist and part-time social worker. He is the award-winning author several graphic novels\, including Rebecca and Lucie in the Case of the Missing Neighbor\, Nicolas\, Petty Theft\, and others. He lives in Montreal with his family./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////Librairie Drawn & Quarterly Accessibility information:– Our store uses StopGap.ca ramps in an effort to encourage accessibility.
