This year\u2019s B\u00e9d\u00e9lys Awards, the 23rd annual, will recognize the best comic books and graphic novels published in Quebec and beyond in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The finalists in each category were selected by juries composed of booksellers, professionals in the comics arts, and in the case of the B\u00e9d\u00e9lys Youth Award, elementary school students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year the B\u00e9d\u00e9lys Awards reward the best works in the comics medium from Qu\u00e9bec and internationally, featuring works with incisive writing and striking artwork. On this occasion, $1,000 grants will be awarded to the winners of the B\u00e9d\u00e9lys Qu\u00e9bec, Independent Francophone and Independent Anglophone awards. All prize winners also receive a unique trophy made of recycled objects by the artist Karl Dup\u00e9r\u00e9-Richer, who has been creating our trophies for 13 years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About MCAF<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For the past 11 years, the Montreal Comic Arts Festival has provided a platform for exchanges and encounters between comic book creators and publishers and the medium\u2019s ever-growing audience. Through its annual spring event, it promotes Quebec and Canadian comics locally and internationally, while contributing to the development and dissemination of knowledge about the \u201c9th Art.\u201d MCAF has also recently stimulated and supported the work of comic book creators with its annual publications under the banner Les Presses du FBDM | MCAF Press.
