Since 2012, we <\/span>have been <\/span>work<\/span>ing<\/span> hard to organize the Montreal Comics Arts Festival and give a wonderful time to comics arts\u00a0lovers. <\/span><\/p>\n

Six years ago, we had big goals: <\/span>to <\/span>create a lasting event <\/span>that would promote the work of<\/span> local and international comic book artists. <\/span>O<\/span>ut goes the clich\u00e9<\/span>:<\/span> the <\/span>n<\/span>inth <\/span>a<\/span>rt is not a subculture<\/span>! It\u2019s the kind of art that raises questions and claims its place, the kind of art that is a representation of a multitude of histories<\/span> and stories from all around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

Today, comics are part of Montreal\u2019s culture and <\/span>this energy emerges from <\/span>independent bookstores, new partnership<\/span>s<\/span> with schools<\/span>,<\/span> and through initiatives as the <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Mois de la BD<\/span>\u201d<\/span> organized by<\/span> the libraries of Montreal. This is a month dedicated to comic art and it takes place each year in May.<\/span><\/p>\n

Celebrating our 5 years and welcoming more than 10,000 visitors was a big step for us<\/span>. W<\/span>e have now achieved one our goals: get the recognition the comic art deserves. And that\u2019s all thanks to our partners, sponsors, volunteers and all of you who participate in this event. You are the ones who make our festival a success <\/span>every year<\/span>. And if there are still any doubts, our nomination for the 32<\/span>nd<\/sup><\/span> Grand Prix of <\/span>t<\/span>he Conseil des <\/span>a<\/span>rts de Montreal should clear them up. We are really proud and once again<\/span>,<\/span> we would like to thank each and everyone who participate in our festival. Your energy, creativity and enthusiasm are important <\/span>and<\/span> you make us who we are.<\/span> You have help us make t<\/span>he Montreal Comics Arts Festival <\/span>an event <\/span>recognized all around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2017, <\/span>we don\u2019t want to take <\/span>anything for granted and we want to keep getting better. That\u2019s why we\u2019ll continue to develop our partnerships and find new ones<\/span>,<\/span> but <\/span>we also want to <\/span>go back to our roots. The festival is a family event taking place outside<\/span> and we want to bring an ecol<\/span>ogical approach <\/span>to<\/span> our future editions. <\/span>We are planning on having m<\/span>ore animations for the 3 to 7-year-old. And as we grow bigger and better, we want to keep developing the English side of the festival, so it can truly represent the comic art <\/span>diversity of Quebec<\/span>. We are working hard so everybody feels welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n
