Vicoli et ruelles<\/em> is presented at the Institute of Italian Culture in Montreal from April 26 to May 31. This exhibition features the work of 24 artists, 12 from Italy and 12 from Quebec. Their common goal: to propose drawings under the theme of the representation of urban space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto<\/em> is proud to present an immersion in the amphigouric universe of the multidisciplinary artist Henriette Valium.
Comics, video, music and paintings will be on display in the exhibition Habuimus papam – Nous avions un pape<\/em>, a body of work by this extraordinary artist who left us on September 1st and who remains, for all time, one of the major figures of the invigorating underground movement that emerged in Montreal in the 1980s. In addition to his marked influence on the generations that followed him, he leaves behind a considerable body of work, provocative and marginal, protean and abundant, sometimes enigmatic, free of all compromise, which he pursued inexorably for more than four decades, reflecting an integrity that we wish to salute. Valium knew the sweet and endless labor that art requires to reach the madness of the eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indigenous Perspectives: Beyond the Two Solitudes in Comics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A selection of photograms and comic book pages by Tara Audibert (Wolastoqiyik Nation) and comic book pages by Kyle Charles (Cree Nation). Audibert works in several mediums, including animation with her film The Importance of Dreaming<\/em>, as well as illustration and comics, including her contributions to the Indigenous resurgence collection This Place <\/em>(2019). Kyle Charles has drawn stories published by Image Comics and Marvel (Her Infernal Descent, Indigenous Voices<\/em> and Phoenix Song Echo)<\/em>. He has also contributed to This Place.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition is organized as part of the conference Beyond the Two Solitudes in Canadian Comics.<\/a> It also presents the first prizes ex aequo of the competition Beyond the 2 solitudes (2020): Julian Lawrence and Ma\u00ebl Rannou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
