DESCRIPTION:Librairie Crossover Comics is excited to announce that author Ryan North will be in Montreal launching his newest comic\, Marvel Comics’ One World Under Doom #1 on Wednesday\, February 12! \nAs the current writer of the Fantastic Four comics\, North is the perfect choice to spotlight the popular Marvel villain\, Doctor Doom\, who will soon be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. North’s flair and creative influence will certainly be reflected in the upcoming 2025 Fantastic Four movie as well. He is the acclaimed author of many other titles\, ranging from more young-adult fare such as The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Danger & Other Unknown Risks\, to comic adaptations of TV favourites Adventure Time and Star Trek: Lower Decks. North’s greatest comics legacy is his webcomic Dinosaur Comics\, which started over two decades ago and is still ongoing today. His work has earned multiple Eisner and Harvey Awards and landed him on the New York Times Bestseller lists. This visit to Crossover Comics marks Ryan North’s first professional appearance in Montreal! \nThe event will take place on February 12th from 4 to 7 PM at Librairie Crossover Comics\, located at 3560 Rue Nôtre Dame Ouest in Saint-Henri. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the author\, get their comics and books signed\, and have a chat with him about his work. Cette exposition nous invite à envisager notre environnement de façon différente\, à nous laisser bercer par un quotidien mouvant. \nDescription\nElle met en dialogue le travail de Myriam Simard-Parent et de Badminton Plus / Zviane\, deux artistes de Villeray qui imprègnent le paysage des arts visuels québécois d’un imaginaire cocasse et provocateur. Virtuoses de leur métier\, elles ont fait de leur pratique un espace d’invention et de réflexion souvent teinté d’humour. Elles éveillent l’esprit curieux du public et l’encouragent à se laisser porter par le dépaysement d’objets et de situations de la vie quotidienne. \nMyriam Simard-Parent – myriamsimardparent.com \nLe travail de Myriam Simard-Parent se distingue par la sculpture de bois réalisé par la taille directe\, le tour et de multiples techniques d’assemblage. Comme base à ses œuvres\, elle utilise du bois brut provenant d’Amérique du Nord et du bois récupéré de toute sorte\, issu de la forêt\, d’atelier ou de chantiers. Elle combine ainsi les différentes couleurs et textures de son matériau afin de créer des motifs et des contrastes\, mais également pour confronter les différents imaginaires reliés au bois. \nAyant deux parents biologistes\, Myriam Simard-Parent a grandi dans une proximité avec la forêt et la biodiversité canadienne. En parallèle\, elle a tout autant été imprégné par la culture populaire québécoise et Américaine\, la télévision et les objets de consommation.
