Il y introduit un nouveau personnage\, Organza\, prolongeant son univers narratif après l’emblématique Wendy. \nAu cœur de l’exposition\, une œuvre filmique inclassable et résolument hybride navigue entre fiction spéculative\, autofiction et humour décalé. Porté par un langage visuel singulier — mêlant prises de vue réelles\, marionnettes et animations dessinées — Organza’s Revenge marque le passage audacieux de Scott du médium de la bande dessinée à celui du film\, tout en préservant l’esthétique bricolée\, sensible et incisive qui définit son travail. \nÀ la Fonderie Darling\, sculptures\, peintures et dispositifs installatifs étendent l’univers d’Organza au-delà de l’écran et transforment la Grande salle en un environnement immersif. Le public est invité à circuler dans cette nouvelle facette de la pratique de Scott\, tout en étant porté par un récit qui interroge l’impact somatique de nos blessures\, ainsi que les notions d’acceptation\, de pardon et de vengeance. \n— \nThe exhibition reveals a marked evolution in the practice of Walter Scott\, an internationally recognized artist known for his comics that observe the contemporary art world with humour and insight. He introduces a new character\, Organza\, extending his narrative universe beyond the iconic Wendy. \nAt the heart of the exhibition\, an unclassifiable and resolutely hybrid filmic work navigates between speculative fiction\, autofiction\, and offbeat humour. Driven by a singular visual language—mixing live-action footage\, puppets\, and hand-drawn animation—Organza’s Revenge marks Scott’s bold transition from the medium of comics to that of film\, while preserving the handmade\, sensitive\, and incisive aesthetic that defines his work. \nAt Fonderie Darling\, sculptures\, paintings\, and installation devices extend Organza’s universe beyond the screen and transform the Main Hall into an immersive environment. DESCRIPTION:Les Éditions Écosociété sont heureuses de vous inviter au lancement de la BD La grande mécanique – Migrations\, regards sur l’inhumain\, d’Anne-Marie Saint-Cerny et Djibril Morissette-Phan\, le 14 avril 17h30 à la librairie Planète BD (4077 R. Saint-Denis\, Montréal).\nBien entendu\, les auteur·es prendront la parole au cours de la soirée\, mais puisque la BD aborde les enjeux de migration d’un point de vue plus global\, ils trouvaient important de partager cette tribune avec un organisme local pour mieux comprendre comment s’incarnent concrètement ces enjeux dans nos communautés ici\, au Québec\, et pour savoir quelles sont les initiatives actuellement en place pour y répondre. Ainsi\, Laura Doyle-Péan\, du Centre des travailleurs et travailleuses immigrants (CTI)\, prendra également la parole.\nÀ propos du livre //\n« 20 000\, 30 000\, 40 000 par année » … « Bientôt une crise sociale sans précédent à cause de l’immigration » … « La moitié des problèmes c’est la faute aux immigrants. »\nDepuis une douzaine d’années\, on nous bombarde de déclarations fracassantes\, de positions absolues\, d’étiquettes et de chiffres contradictoires sur l’immigration… Mais de qui et de quoi parle-t-on\, au juste?\nAnne-Marie Saint-Cerny\, scénariste et co-autrice\, et Djibril Morissette-Phan\, artiste et co-auteur\, ont voulu comprendre. Leur BD La grande mécanique démonte un à un les rouages des migrations internationales et met à plat les tensions qui accompagnent le phénomène dans les pays du Nord. Cet essai graphique nous emmène sur les routes des passeurs\, dans les camps de migrants et sur des frontières militarisées. Du Texas à Calais\, en passant par les pays de transit\, quelle est la réalité sur le terrain? Comment départager les faits des fausses perceptions? Comment traiter dignement les migrants\, sans faire l’impasse sur les problèmes sociaux des pays d’accueil? Comment en sommes-nous arrivés à poser un regard aussi inhumain sur les migrants ?\nUne BD bien trempée qui conjugue recherches sur le terrain\, témoignages\, documentation officielle et bagage familial avec une esthétique digne des meilleurs comics pour nous aider à y voir plus clair. Ou nous empêcher de fermer les yeux.\nÀ propos des auteur·es //\nAutrice\, recherchiste et militante de terrain depuis plus de 30 ans\, Anne-Marie Saint-Cerny a publié Mégantic\, une tragédie annoncée (prix Pierre-Vadeboncoeur 2018) et\, avec Christian Quesnel\, Mégantic\, un train dans la nuit (Grand Prix de la Ville de Québec 2022 et prix Éco-Fauve du Festival international de la bande dessinée d’Angoulême 2022).\nArtiste visuel basé à Rimouski\, Djibril Morissette-Phan publie entre autres chez Marvel\, Le Lombard et Les Humanoïdes associés. Né d’une mère vietnamienne arrivée au Québec pendant la crise des boat people\, il signe avec sa sœur Yasmine le roman graphique Khiêm. Terres maternelles (2020)\, puis Havana connection (2024) avec Michel Viau\, chez Glénat Québec.

DESCRIPTION:Join Montréal cartoonist Arizona O’Neill as she launches her debut graphic memoir\, Opioids & Organs\, at Librairie Drawn & Quarterly on Tuesday\, May 12th in conversation with Neil Smith at 7pm.\nIn Opioids & Organs\, a distraught\, young Arizona makes a decision that will haunt her for the rest of her life. As she struggles to come to terms with her father’s death and her role as next of kin in making his life’s last decision\, she uncovers inconvenient truths about the organ industry’s own codependence on the opioid crisis. She is the illustrator of Nelly Arcan’s L’enfant dans le miroir\, and Heather O’Neill’s Valentine in Montreal. Her comics have appeared in Hazlitt\, Exclaim! and Canadian Geographic. She has created animated videos for many outlets including CBC. Opioids and Organs is her debut graphic novel.\nNeil Smith is a Montreal-born writer and translator. His fourth book\, a gothic horror novel called Red Rover Red Rover\, comes out in August 2027 with Random House Canada. His previous novel\, Jones\, will be published in Spanish this summer\, and his first novel\, Boo\, is being optioned for television. DESCRIPTION:Comment se construisent les imaginaires autour des femmes asiatiques? \nÀ partir de la bande dessinée Héritages\, la sociologue Sophie Hamisultane et l’illustratrice Sandra Desmazières ouvrent un espace de réflexion sur les héritages coloniaux\, les stéréotypes et les expériences vécues par les femmes asiatiques issues de familles migrantes. \nDescription\n\nHéritages\, par Sophie Hamisultane et Sandra Desmazières\, nous montre comment les femmes « asiatiques » sont perçues par des imaginaires coloniaux. \nLa discussion est constituée d’une présentation de la BD et un partage des réflexions autour de ce que les femmes de nouvelles générations « asiatiques » issues de parents migrants peuvent vivre. \nLe scénario de la bande-dessinée se base sur des récits issus des recherches de Sophie Hamisultane et illustré par Sandra Desmazières (César 2026\, meilleur Court Métrage d’animation).
