Mark Patrick McGuire is a writer, documentary filmmaker and Humanities teacher at John Abbott College since 2005. His film about urban ascetics in Tokyo and Osaka produced with Jean-Marc Abela (Shugendô Now) won the David Plath media prize in 2011. His first book Clay Footed Giants (Moelle Graphik, 2022), co-written with Alain Chevarier, was named a finalist for the French language comic book of the year by the Québec BD Festival and selected for SHOOT THE BOOK by a jury of film producers at the Angoulême International Comic Arts Festival in 2023.
